The #423 Tile — Legacy in Relief
(Unearthed from 1884. Reborn Without a Single Compromise.)

In a time when craftsmanship wasn’t a selling point—it was simply expected—J.G. and J.F. Low quietly produced works of art disguised as tiles.

Some were floral. Others, geometric. But Tile #423, tucked into the 1884 catalog like a footnote from a forgotten opera, was something else entirely: a study in restraint. Just enough ornament to feel important. Just enough mystery to demand a second look.

We’ve brought it back—down to the last curve and contour.

Our Reproduction Project Tile is a 2" x 2" celebration of detail and dignity. Formed in high-grade stoneware, with a subtle ¼-inch depth, it’s ready to take its place once more in the world of considered interiors. It pairs beautifully with natural light, white oak, quiet rooms, and long pauses.

Ideal for backsplashes, bath alcoves, or as a standalone relic of a more intentional time.

Adventure Built. Because history should be felt—not just studied.

All of our tiles are handmade in Texas. We use the cuenca, or arista, technique, in which the glaze colors are prevented from mingling in the firing process by raised borders molded into the clay

Because we individually press and glaze every tile there is a slight variation which lends to their handmade beauty. The size and weight of each of our tiles hearkens back to the days of true craftsmanship.
